| In Chicago, the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs and the Midwest Human Rights Coalition coordinated a Chicago shadow report to submit to the CERD Committee. They since revised the shadow report for the visit of the Special Rapporteur on Racism to Chicago in spring of 2008. The revised shadow report includes data on racial profiling, islamophobia and juvenile justice. They are thinking of submitting the revised shadow report to the CERD Committee in March as a follow-up report. They are in planning stage to identify next steps including capitalizing on potential Olympics in Chicago to extract human rights commitments from the city. Some groups also working with the City of Chicago to adopt the Convention on the Rights of the Child. |
